The Fun Times

This week has had its ups and downs as the weeks normally do, but mostly ups...

Caitlin successfully finished her first cross country season at Maumee Bay State Park yestereday. She seems to enjoy it, but mostly for the social reasons... and the pretty participation ribbons. Her St. Michael team placed third among all the schools in the diocese.

She went to Barnes and Noble last weekend and spent an hour in "heaven" browsing through all her favorite chapter books. As I am typing she is reading in her rocking chair to her "class." She has learned a few lessons this week, as we try to figure out as parents how to create a teachable moment from a negative experience.

Carson is proving to be our challenge at this point in time. He is needing an educational system, such a preschool to turn him around. Jason said I have created him the way he is, thanks! :)

What can I say, he LOVES his mom!

The kids had a nice surprise of Grandpa Jeff coming for a three day visit from South Dakota. The kids went for a ride in the big truck with him. He probably had to go home to get rest from all the excitement of the Koomen house.

He was playing in the basement on Thursday with grandpa and his train set. He told the "men" at the station that he closes at 5:30 p.m., without hesitation he ran over to Caitlin's dollhouse, borrowed a lamp, and set it down in the station. Then he said, "now we can stay open at dark."

He has been my constant reminder to turn on the Halloween decorations, and keep things ready for Halloween.

Among other comical sayings/events:

Carson also told his father that he has "magnificent" haircut!

As I watched him walk down the aisle at church today with the offering basket, he is still the cutest, but ornriest boy in the Koomen house!
